ABOUT WEES

The Weapon Electrical Engineering School (WEES) is one of the sevenschools in the Nigerian Naval Engineering College (NNEC), Sapele. The school was established in 1988 to cater for the training ofNN personnel on the applicationsand maintenance of WeaponElectrical equipment onboardNN fleet. The school is equippedwith various training equipmentand facilities, employed inproviding the requisite knowledgeand skills for NN personnel inthe Engineering and ExecutiveBranch.
The trainings conducted in WEES arc categorized into different courses. These are the ArtificersCourse (HND Programme), OAC, SDOC, ILMC and POWEfor personnel in EngineeringBranch. Others are the OIL, STC and AW Course.

The OLC, STCand AW courses entail the practicalphase of engineering trainingfor personnel of the ExecutiveBranch. They were designed toequip personnel with the skills oftrouping and assembling of shipguns, operation of fire control systems and target acquisition ofmissile systems onboard NN ships.

The STC is a one week EngineeringAcquaintance Course, introducedfor young officers of the Executive Branch. The OLC is a one week program for the AW officers while the AW course is two weeksprogram for AWRatings of the Executive Branch. It is worthy to note that over the years, several ofthese courses have been conducted successfully in WEES. This was aimed at achieving the mandate of producing requisite manpower with technical skills that are essential for NN fleet rnaintenance and availability.

ORGANIZATION OF WEAPON ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SCHOOL

In the organization of WEES,the school is headed by the Commanding Officer(CO), whois assisted by a Chief Instructor(Cl), a Head of Department (HOD), serving and retiredpersonnel and civilian lecturers.
The school consists of the mainWeapon Engineering School and the Weapon Annex, whichis collocated with MarineEngineering School. The WEES equally has several training facilities with classrooms and laboratoriesfor lectures and practical trainings.
