It is my honour to extend warm greetings and goodwill to the management, faculty, industry partners and friends of the Nigerian Navy Institute of Technology (NNIT). It gladdens me to inform all that, our Institute remains steadfast in its mission to deliver high-quality professional and academic programmes that meet best modernpractices and standards. Our commitment to innovation and forward thinking undertakings continue to give the Institute a reputable recognition. This important recognition confirms the rigour of our curriculum, enhances the value of our awards and strengthens the career prospects of our graduates.

We celebrate significant achievements across the Institute. These include:

  • Successful accreditation of key technical programmes by NBTE.
  • Enhanced curriculum development and delivery across professional and academic courses.
  • Improved research outputs and practical training facilities.
  • Strengthened partnerships with industry and academic institutions.
  • Notable student and staff performances in national training exercises and professional assessments.

These milestones are a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and collective effort of our faculty, staff, and Under Training Personnel. I commend every member of our community for their commitment to excellence, integrity and service.

I wish to express profound gratitude to the Chief of the Naval Staff, the Chief of Naval Engineering and the Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Training Command for their continuous and unwavering support to the Institute. Their guidance, resources and encouragement have been instrumental to our growth and success.

His exemplary service has been recognized through numerous awards, including the ‘RanaSuraPadakkama’ (RSP) for bravery and the ‘UththamaSevaPadakkama’ (USP) for distinguished conduct. He has also received seven other Operations and Service medals and three Letters of Commendation (LOC) from the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Navy, acknowledging his outstanding performance. Commodore Dinesh Bandara is married to Mrs. KaushalyaHarshani, and they are blessed with two sons, Chirana and Chinula.

As we look forward to higher goals, let us rededicate ourselves to innovation, scholarly excellence and practical training that advance the Nigerian Navy and the maritime sector. To our students, pursue knowledge with discipline and purpose. To our staff, continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, and to our partners, do remain steadfast with us as we assure you of greater achievements and collaborations.

Together, we will sustain the Institute’s momentum and produce competent, ethical and resilient professionals, who will serve the Nigerian Navy and our nation with distinction.
